Spanish visitor, traveling by bicycle with her spouse, got lost in Jharkhand



Late on Friday night, a distressing incident unfolded in Dumka, Jharkhand, where a Spanish woman, reportedly on a bike tour with her husband, was allegedly subjected to a harrowing gang rape. The appalling episode occurred in Kurumahat, within the jurisdiction of the Hansdiha police station area.

Details reveal that the couple, avid bikers, were encamped in tents within Kunji village, Dumka, as part of their journey. Their intended destination was Bhagalpur, Bihar, with the couple traversing the region on their motorcycle.

Reports indicate that a group of approximately 8 to 10 men is believed to have perpetrated this heinous act, prompting the authorities to detain three individuals in connection with the incident. In response to the gravity of the situation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to delve into the matter, supplemented by the involvement of forensic experts.

The victims, hailing from Spain and traversing Asia on a tourist visa, embarked on their expedition after visiting Pakistan and Bangladesh, culminating in their arrival in Dumka. Their next destination was planned to be Nepal, indicative of their extensive journey across the region.

Presently, the Spanish woman is undergoing medical treatment at Saraiyahat Community Health Centre (CHC) as the authorities strive to provide her with the necessary care and support. Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police for Dumka, having visited the scene of the crime on the night of the incident, remains actively engaged in overseeing the ongoing investigation.

As the inquiry progresses, the individuals detained are undergoing interrogation as part of efforts to ascertain the full extent of the circumstances surrounding this reprehensible act.
