Jack Teixeira, the Massachusetts Air National Guard member who stands accused of leaking highly classified military documents on a social media platform, is anticipated to enter a guilty plea in his federal case, as indicated by court documents filed on Thursday.
According to the filings, prosecutors have petitioned the judge to arrange a change of plea hearing, although specific details regarding the plea agreement remain undisclosed at this time. The scheduled hearing is set to take place on Monday at the federal courthouse in Boston.
Previously, Teixeira had pleaded not guilty to six counts of willful retention and transmission of national defense information, with each count carrying a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

Investigators assert that Teixeira led a private chat group known as Thug Shaker Central, where members exchanged banter, discussed firearms, and deliberated on geopolitical affairs, including the Ukraine crisis.
Authorities allege that Teixeira, who enlisted in the Air National Guard in 2019, commenced sharing classified information with other Discord users around January 2023, initially through textual representation and later via photographic reproduction of documents labeled as SECRET and TOP SECRET. Employed as a cyber transport systems specialist, Teixeira's responsibilities encompassed overseeing military communication networks.
Details about a potential motive remain scarce, although descriptions provided by members of the online chat group portray Teixeira as motivated more by a sense of bravado rather than ideological fervor.
Prosecutors had advocated for Teixeira's continued detention, citing concerns over an arsenal of weapons discovered at his residence and a history of unsettling online remarks. These included a social media post expressing a desire to inflict harm on numerous individuals, which prosecutors interpreted as a demonstration of a risk to public safety.
In a previous ruling, U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani denied Teixeira's request for release, highlighting the inability of any release conditions to adequately guarantee community safety or prevent potential evidence tampering.
Teixeira's legal team had sought to secure his release, drawing comparisons to the pretrial release of former President Donald Trump and others implicated in high-profile classified documents cases.
