Team Uddhav MLA under investigation, agency scanner enters the camp of Eknath Shinde

Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Ravindra Waikar, known for his close association with Uddhav Thackeray, has decided to align himself with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's faction within the party. This development is significant, especially considering Waikar's ongoing scrutiny by the Enforcement Directorate regarding an alleged land scam.

Waikar, representing Mumbai's Jogeshwari constituency, has been an integral part of the Shiv Sena for over five decades and has enjoyed a close rapport with the late Shiv Sena patriarch Balasaheb Thackeray. His decision to join forces with the Shinde-led faction marks a significant shift in the party's internal dynamics.

The formal inclusion of Waikar into the Shinde-led group occurred at 'Varsha', the official residence of the Chief Minister, underscoring the gravity of the move. Speaking to the media, Waikar emphasized his commitment to the development of his constituency, citing Shinde's proactive approach towards infrastructure projects.

In response, Eknath Shinde welcomed Waikar into the Shiv Sena fold, highlighting their shared history of collaboration under Balasaheb Thackeray's leadership. Waikar's extensive political experience, spanning over four consecutive terms as an MLA and his previous role as the chairman of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's standing committee, adds weight to his decision to align with Shinde's camp.

However, it's worth noting that Waikar's move comes amidst ongoing investigations by the Enforcement Directorate into allegations of fraudulent activity related to the acquisition of permissions for a luxury hotel construction project in Jogeshwari. The probe, initiated earlier this year, has resulted in raids on Waikar's properties and those of his associates.

Despite the legal scrutiny, Waikar's decision to switch allegiances underscores the complexities within the Shiv Sena and signals potential shifts in the party's power dynamics.
