"Thank you": Former cricketer Yusuf Pathan acknowledges Mamata Banerjee's candidacy



Yusuf Pathan expressed his deep appreciation to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for showing confidence in him to represent the voice of the people in Parliament.

Upon being named as the Trinamool Congress's candidate for the Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency, Pathan conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Mamata Banerjee for extending the opportunity to serve as a voice for the citizens in the legislative arena.

"I extend my eternal gratitude to Smt. @MamataOfficial for embracing me into the TMC family and entrusting me with the responsibility of being the people's advocate in Parliament. As representatives of the populace, it is incumbent upon us to uplift the underprivileged and marginalized, and I am committed to striving towards that goal," Pathan shared in a statement on X.

Acknowledging his brother's new political journey, former cricketer Irfan Pathan conveyed his felicitations and emphasized Yusuf's notable qualities of patience, compassion, and dedication to aiding the less fortunate, even without holding an official position. Irfan expressed confidence that Yusuf would make a meaningful impact on the lives of ordinary people once he assumed his political role.

The Trinamool Congress unveiled its roster of 42 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections during a grand rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. The announcement, led by Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee and party chief Mamata Banerjee, showcased a diverse array of candidates, including renowned figures such as veteran Bollywood actor Shatrugan Sinha, who is contesting from Asansol, and Tollywood actors Rachana Banerjee, June Malia, Deepak Adhikari (popularly known as 'Dev'), and Satabdi Roy, who are contesting from various constituencies in West Bengal.
