"The bilateral ties are not solely represented by the boundary issue with India," said China

China has proposed a separation of border issues from the broader bilateral relations between China and India, emphasizing the need to foster mutual trust to prevent misunderstandings.

According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin, while responding to remarks made by India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar regarding the troop buildup along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the boundary matter should be appropriately situated within the overall bilateral relationship.

Wang stressed that the boundary question should not define the entirety of China-India relations and should be managed effectively within the broader context of bilateral ties.

The relationship between the two countries experienced a significant downturn following a violent clash in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, marking the most severe military confrontation in over four decades.

Jaishankar previously emphasized the importance of adhering to signed agreements, noting that the recent tensions have been detrimental to both nations' interests.

In response, Wang reiterated the importance of resolving border issues promptly in the mutual interest of both countries, urging adherence to previous agreements and maintaining communication through diplomatic and military channels to reach a mutually acceptable solution.

Furthermore, Wang expressed China's hope that India would approach bilateral relations strategically and with a long-term perspective, emphasizing the need for enhanced mutual trust, dialogue, cooperation, and the proper handling of differences to ensure the steady development of bilateral ties.
