The BJP declares its candidates for the Legislative Council elections in UP and Bihar

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made a significant move on Saturday by unveiling its slate of candidates for the forthcoming Legislative Council elections in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, marking a crucial step in its electoral strategy.

In Bihar, where the BJP seeks to solidify its position, the party has designated candidates for three out of the 11 seats up for contention. Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, a battleground state with 13 MLC seats at stake, the BJP has nominated contenders for seven seats.

Among the notable figures selected by the BJP in Bihar to vie for seats in the Legislative Council election is former Minister Mangal Pandey. Joining him on the ticket are Dr. Lal Mohan Gupta and Anamika Singh, all poised to submit their nomination papers on Monday.

Turning the focus to Uttar Pradesh, the BJP's lineup includes Vijay Bahadur Pathak, Mahendra Kumar Singh, Mohit Beniwal, Ashok Katariya, Dharmendra Singh, Ramtirath Singhal, and Santosh Singh, each set to vie for seats in the Legislative Council elections.

Scheduled for March 21, the MLC elections in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have set the stage for intense political maneuvering, with the deadline for filing nominations set for March 11.

In a notable development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, eyeing a fourth consecutive term, formally submitted his nomination papers for re-election to the state legislative council. Accompanied by a cadre of senior leaders from the ruling NDA, including his deputies Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, as well as JDU's Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lalan', Kumar reaffirmed his commitment to the electoral process.

Joining Kumar in filing nomination papers were his cabinet colleague Santosh Suman and JD(U) MLC Khalid Anwar, signifying a coordinated effort by the ruling coalition to secure its position in the upcoming polls.

The Election Commission's announcement of biennial polls for 11 seats in the state legislative council in Bihar and 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh underscores the significance of these elections, marking a pivotal moment in the political landscape of both states.
