The BJP MP’s 'cool down in 2 minutes' jab at Trinamool over Sandeshkhali

On Sunday, Bengal BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Dilip Ghosh directed fresh criticism towards the Trinamool Congress regarding the Sandeshkhali violence case, alongside alleging that under the Trinamool Congress's banner, the state of Bengal has become a breeding ground for goons, mafias, and rapists.

Ghosh's comments emerged amidst the backdrop of former Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan's apprehension in connection with the Sandeshkhali violence incident. He emphasized the need for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to swiftly address the situation, drawing a parallel with Modi's ability to swiftly tackle the Kashmir issue.

According to Ghosh, the Trinamool Congress harbored a "corrupt criminal and a rapist" for an extended period, emblematic of the party's lax approach towards law enforcement and governance. He conveyed these sentiments to news agency ANI, reiterating his long-standing assertion regarding the prevalence of criminal elements thriving under the Trinamool Congress's patronage.

Additionally, Ghosh attributed Shahjahan's arrest to sustained pressure from the BJP and media scrutiny, insinuating a lack of proactive measures by the Bengal Police before these interventions.

Expressing disdain towards the Trinamool Congress's governance, Ghosh asserted that the party had wrought havoc upon Bengal, decrying instances of widespread corruption and assaults on the dignity of women. He anticipated that the forthcoming elections would serve as a reckoning for the Trinamool Congress, as the people of Bengal sought redressal for their grievances through the ballot box.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi, during a public address in Bengal's Hooghly district, denounced the Trinamool Congress, particularly condemning the alleged sexual assault incidents in Sandeshkhali and highlighting the public's discontentment.

Furthermore, Ghosh raised questions about Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's interactions with PM Modi during his recent visit to the state, insinuating that her eagerness to engage with the Prime Minister was indicative of her attempts to salvage her party's image amidst mounting controversies.

Shahjahan's arrest, occurring after a prolonged period of 55 days while he was on the run, marked a significant development in the Sandeshkhali saga, which had incited violent protests and political upheaval. The Bengal Police apprehended Shahjahan approximately 30 kilometers away from Sandeshkhali, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Subsequently, Shahjahan faced suspension from the Trinamool Congress, with the Calcutta High Court scheduling a hearing on March 4 to address the alleged sexual assault and land-grabbing accusations, emphasizing the court's impartial stance in the matter.
