The Karnataka administration received an explosive threat email on Saturday



On Monday, the Karnataka government received a concerning bomb threat via email, wherein the sender, identified as Shahid Khan, forewarned of a potential explosion set to occur in Bengaluru on the upcoming Saturday.

The email, directed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, the Home Minister, and the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, outlined the specific time of the purported explosion, designated as 2:48 pm.

Furthermore, the correspondence detailed that the explosion could target bustling venues such as restaurants, temples, buses, or trains, posing a significant risk to public safety. Additionally, the sender ominously mentioned the possibility of planting explosives during public gatherings or events, further escalating concerns regarding the potential threat.

In a startling development, the email also disclosed the perpetrators' audacious demand for a hefty ransom of 2.5 million dollars, equivalent to more than Rs 20 crore, presumably to forestall the execution of the purported explosion.

Subsequently, in response to the alarming threat, authorities took swift action by registering a suo moto case on the same day, initiating necessary measures to address and investigate the gravity of the situation.
