The party of MK Stalin urges the poll panel to denounce the "hate speech" of Nirmala Sitharaman

The DMK, Tamil Nadu's ruling party, has lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her recent remarks accusing the party of "stealing money from temples and destroying the Hindu religion." During an event hosted by a right-wing YouTube channel in Chennai, Sitharaman questioned why people would vote for a party like the DMK, which she alleged was involved in such actions.

In its complaint, the DMK accused Sitharaman of making false statements to arouse religious sentiments during the election period. The party also contended that these remarks were made after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.

The DMK labeled Sitharaman's comments as "hate and defamatory speeches" aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the party and its leader for personal gain. They emphasized that the DMK has always supported the development of all religions without bias and has actively worked to reclaim temple lands from illegal encroachments.

Seeking action against Sitharaman and the BJP for violating the Model Code under the Representation of People Act, the DMK reiterated its commitment to upholding the interests of all religious communities and ensuring fair conduct during elections.
