Today is Amit Shah's 2-day tour of Maharashtra; seat-sharing discussions are planned

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is anticipated to engage in discussions regarding a seat-sharing arrangement in Maharashtra for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, along with finalizing candidates, during his scheduled two-day visit to the state commencing today.

During the initial day of his visit, Shah plans to visit Sambhajinagar in the Marathwada region, historically significant for the Maratha reservation issue. In the evening, he is slated to partake in a roadshow and a public meeting in Sambhajinagar, a longstanding bastion of the Shiv Sena.

Sambhajinagar, which witnessed a shift in political dynamics during the previous election, holds strategic importance, with the Shiv Sena and BJP vying for supremacy in the upcoming polls, alongside the AIMIM.

Marathwada, encompassing eight districts and eight Lok Sabha seats, presents a pivotal battleground, with each major political faction endeavoring to secure its electoral interests.

In Akola, Shah is scheduled to convene meetings with local leaders and conduct a roadshow. This region, nestled in Vidharbha, boasts ten Lok Sabha seats spread across eleven districts, each representing a potential focal point for political maneuvering.

Jalgaon is set to host Shah's participation in the Yuva Sammelan, anticipated to draw thousands of attendees.

On the subsequent day, Shah will participate in the Indian Global Forum (IGF) annual investment summit at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, underscoring the significance of his visit amidst ongoing deliberations over Lok Sabha seat allocations in Maharashtra.

Notably, discussions regarding Maharashtra's Lok Sabha seats have gained prominence following the BJP's recent announcement of its first list of candidates, which notably excluded any mention of candidates from the state.

Concurrently, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar is poised to conduct a comprehensive review of nearly sixteen Lok Sabha seats during Shah's visit. This move underscores the significance of Shah's presence in the state, particularly as political factions strategize to assert their electoral dominance in Maharashtra.
