Tomorrow's court judgment about Satyendar Jain's bail request in the money laundering case

The Supreme Court is set to deliver its judgment on Monday regarding the bail plea of former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain in a money-laundering case investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). This decision comes nearly two months after the Supreme Court had reserved its order on Jain's bail plea in January. The bench comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal will issue the order.

In January, the Supreme Court had heard arguments from Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the ED, and Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Satyendar Jain, before reserving its order on the bail plea. Additionally, the bench will also pronounce an order on the bail plea of co-accused Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain.

Satyendar Jain, who is currently out on interim bail due to medical reasons, was arrested by the ED in May last year on charges of money laundering through shell companies and using illegal funds to purchase land. His arrest followed the attachment of assets worth Rs 4.81 crore linked to his family by the probe agency in a disproportionate assets case.

Earlier this month, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena approved a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe against Satyendar Jain for his alleged involvement in an extortion racket. The CBI alleges that Jain received protection money from various high-profile prisoners, including conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, in exchange for facilitating their comfortable stay in jail. The investigation claims that Jain extorted Rs 10 crore from Chandrasekhar as 'protection money'.
