On Wednesday, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya criticized the Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government for its directive to all schools in the state, instructing students to bring their own answer sheets for exams.
Expressing his disapproval, Surya labeled the state government's decision as indicative of it being in a "complete mess".
Furthermore, he asserted that the Siddaramaiah government has "lost the dignity to continue in office".
In a statement posted on X, Tejaswi Surya underscored the financial challenges faced by the Congress government, which he claims has led Karnataka into bankruptcy, adding that forcing students to provide their own answer booklets for board exams is emblematic of the government's disarray.
He urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to promptly secure funds for the education department to ensure the printing of answer booklets, emphasizing that the lack of foresight and planning by the government should not burden the student community.
In a recent development, the Karnataka government issued new guidelines directing schools adhering to the state syllabus to furnish only question papers to students during exams, mandating students to furnish their own answer sheets.
Sources within the Education Department clarified that the state government is not levying any fees from the students for this provision.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court intervened on Wednesday, annulling the notifications issued by the state government designating the KSEAB (Karnataka School Examination & Assessment Board) as the responsible authority for conducting the Summative Assessment-2 exams for students in Classes 5, 8, and 9, as well as the annual examination for Class 11.
This ruling applies to students enrolled in government, aided, and unaided schools and colleges following the Karnataka State Board Syllabus, with the scheduled examinations set to commence on March 9.
