Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee and Sourav Ganguly meet in her Nabanna office

Former cricket captain Sourav Ganguly met with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at her office in Nabanna on Wednesday.

Sources reported that Ganguly engaged in a discussion with the Trinamool Congress chief for approximately thirty minutes before departing.

This meeting occurred in anticipation of the announcement of Lok Sabha election dates. Nevertheless, Ganguly has refrained from indicating any inclination towards joining politics.

In September of the previous year, Sourav Ganguly accompanied Mamata Banerjee to Spain for an investors summit. Conjectures were suggesting that he might align himself with the Trinamool Congress, but Ganguly dismissed such speculations.

"I am an individual. I am not an MLA [or] MP. I don’t have any political attachment," he clarified.

Additionally, rumors were circulating that Ganguly might consider joining the BJP after Home Minister Amit Shah visited his residence in Kolkata in 2022. However, Ganguly promptly refuted these rumors as well.
