Trinamool's 'washing machine' jab at the BJP about the CBI's clean sheet of Praful Patel

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched a fierce attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of exploiting central agencies like the CBI and Enforcement Directorate for political gains. This criticism came in response to the closure of a corruption case against Praful Patel, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) faction led by Ajit Pawar.

During a press conference, TMC leaders displayed washing machines bearing the BJP logo, symbolizing their accusation that the BJP acts like a "washing machine" by allegedly providing clean chits to leaders embroiled in legal troubles. Additionally, the TMC released a video titled "Washing Powder Bhajpa," which depicts leaders joining the BJP and subsequently receiving clean chits in corruption cases.

The TMC asserted that individuals who align with the BJP seem to magically escape legal scrutiny. Ritabrata Banerjee, a TMC leader, expressed dissatisfaction with the closure of the corruption case against Praful Patel, highlighting that the investigation was initiated in 2017 to probe irregularities in leasing aircraft for Air India.

Praful Patel, once facing allegations of financial irregularities, joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after parting ways with the NCP. Banerjee criticized the BJP for embracing leaders like Patel despite their tainted pasts, suggesting that these leaders were previously targeted and now enjoy immunity after joining the BJP camp.

Banerjee further alleged that those who refuse to align with the BJP are subjected to legal action, citing examples such as Hemant Soren and Arvind Kejriwal.

In conclusion, the TMC vehemently condemned what it termed as "washing machine politics," denouncing the purported misuse of central agencies to absolve politically aligned individuals of corruption charges.
