Two killed in helicopter crash near US-Mexico border



A tragic incident occurred near the United States' southern border with Mexico, resulting in the deaths of at least two individuals, while another person sustained injuries, following the crash of a US National Guard helicopter.

The unfortunate event transpired on Friday evening in La Grulla, a town situated along the border in Starr County, Texas, near the Rio Grande.

Reports from various media outlets indicate that the helicopter was transporting at least four occupants at the time of the accident.

Authorities from the Starr County Sheriff's Office have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

In a statement shared on social media, the Sheriff's Office mentioned that deputies are currently providing assistance in response to a downed helicopter incident on the east side of the county, potentially involving four occupants.

According to a defense official, the helicopter involved in the tragic crash was identified as a National Guard Lakota UH-72.
