US gurdwara shoots a UP man dead; his family wants his body returned

An individual from Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor, known for his Sikh musical talents and part of a kirtan ensemble in the United States, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident outside a gurdwara in Alabama. The unfortunate event occurred on February 23.

Identified as Raj Singh, also known as Goldy, he hailed from Tanda Sahuwala village in Bijnor district. Goldy had been residing in the US with his kirtan group for the past one-and-a-half years, contributing to the spiritual musical performances at various venues.

Following their kirtan session at the gurdwara, Goldy was present outside the premises when he was fatally shot by unidentified assailants.

Goldy's demise has left a profound impact on his family, where he served as the eldest sibling and the primary provider. His father, Dheere Singh, passed away five years ago, leaving him to shoulder significant responsibilities.

He is survived by his mother, two sisters, and a younger brother, all of whom mourn his untimely departure.

In the wake of this tragedy, the family has appealed to the authorities to facilitate the repatriation of Goldy's remains to their hometown for his final rites and cremation.
