US universities can use Indian study partners to authenticate TOEFL results

In light of a 59% increase in TOEFL test takers in India since the pandemic pause, US universities will now be able to authenticate TOEFL scores through their Indian educational partners. This announcement came from the Educational Testing Service (ETS), in collaboration with Career Mosaic, a South Asian student recruitment firm for US universities.

With Indians comprising over 12% of TOEFL candidates, ETS aims to provide universities with reliable means to assess English proficiency among potential students. Sachin Jain, ETS India and South Asia's country manager expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, citing its efficiency in score verification.

The initiative responds to the growing trend of Indian students pursuing education in the US, with a remarkable 35% surge in enrollment within a year. The increased confidence in TOEFL scores facilitated by this collaboration will expedite admissions processes for universities while providing a seamless experience for students.

Blerina Polovina, Director of International Admissions and Business Development at Webster University USA, lauded the move, emphasizing its role in streamlining admissions and enhancing efficiency.

The TOEFL test, recognized by over 12,000 institutions worldwide, underwent improvements last year to enhance the candidate experience. These changes include a shorter duration and immediate access to official score release dates and post-test completion.

Manisha Zaveri, Joint Managing Director at Career Mosaic, highlighted the impact of validated TOEFL scores on student profiles, foreseeing benefits for universities and Indian students seeking higher education opportunities in the USA.
