Video: Crowd in Kerala chases, beats, and taunts an African football player racially



The incident involving an Ivory Coast footballer being racially abused and subsequently chased and thrashed by spectators during a football match in Kerala's Malappuram district has garnered significant attention.

According to reports, the footballer, Dairrassouba Hassane Junior, alleged that he was racially abused by the crowd while playing in a Sevens football tournament representing the club Jawahar Mavoor. He also claimed that the crowd threw stones at him.

A video of the incident, which went viral, showed Hassane Junior being chased and thrashed by a group of people. Another individual, wearing a white t-shirt, was seen attempting to shield the footballer from the blows and later helped him leave the scene.

Hassane Junior filed a complaint with the police, stating the sequence of events and the racial abuse he endured. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about racism in sports, emphasizing the need for measures to address such incidents and ensure the safety and dignity of athletes, regardless of their nationality or ethnicity.
