Vladimir Putin is congratulated by PM Modi on winning reelection as president of Russia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his congratulations to Vladimir Putin on his re-election as Russia's President. Through a message on social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his warm wishes to Putin and conveyed his anticipation to collaborate with the Russian leadership in strengthening the enduring Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia.

Putin's victory in Russia's election was marked by a significant margin, securing 87.8 percent of the vote, the highest-ever result in Russia's post-Soviet history, according to an exit poll by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM). With this re-election, Putin is poised to embark on another six-year term, potentially surpassing Josef Stalin to become Russia's longest-serving leader in over two centuries, should he complete the term.

Putin has been a prominent figure in Russian politics since 1999, serving as President from 2000 to 2008 before exchanging roles with Dmitry Medvedev and returning to the presidency in 2012. A constitutional reform in 2020 paved the way for Putin to continue as the Kremlin chief, extending his tenure with few political rivals.
