A tragic incident unfolded outside a roadside eatery, commonly known as a 'dhaba', in the Sonipat district of Haryana on Sunday, where a liquor businessman identified as Sunder Malik fell victim to a fatal shooting. The distressing episode was captured on surveillance cameras, which depicted the harrowing scene of two assailants opening fire indiscriminately at Sunder Malik in the rear parking area adjacent to Gulshan Dhaba. Reports suggest that the assailants discharged over 35 rounds of ammunition, leading to Malik's untimely demise.
In a startling turn of events, a notorious criminal figure hailing from Haryana, known by the alias Himanshu or Bhau, has purportedly claimed responsibility for orchestrating the targeted attack on Sunder Malik. Notably, Interpol had issued a Red Notice against Himanshu in the previous year, with suspicions suggesting that he currently resides outside the territorial confines of India.
Gaurav Rajpurohit, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Sonipat, disclosed that eyewitnesses observed two to three individuals disembarking from a Honda City sedan before perpetrating the assault on Sunder Malik. In response to the heinous crime, law enforcement authorities have mobilized seven dedicated police teams to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators.
Dispelling any conjectures surrounding the incident being a result of gang-related hostilities, Rajpurohit emphasized that law enforcement agencies are diligently reaching out to Sunder Malik's family to ascertain his potential involvement in criminal activities.
The footage captured by surveillance cameras, it depicted a distressing sequence of events wherein two armed assailants swiftly approached Sunder Malik's sports utility vehicle (SUV) upon his arrival at the scene. In a desperate attempt to evade the imminent danger, Malik attempted to flee but was swiftly subdued by one of the assailants, resulting in a scuffle that ensued on the ground. Tragically, amidst the chaos, another assailant opened fire at Sunder Malik, inflicting fatal injuries that ultimately claimed his life. Following the ruthless act, the assailants fled from the scene, leaving behind a trail of devastation and grief.
Allegations have surfaced suggesting that Sunder Malik was embroiled in serious criminal charges, including accusations of murder and attempted murder.
