During the early hours of Saturday, a tragic shooting occurred at a martini bar in Doral, Florida, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to seven others, including a police officer.
The incident unfolded around 3:30 am when a security guard intervened in an altercation, leading to the fatal shooting of the guard by the perpetrator. Subsequently, six bystanders and a police officer sustained gunshot wounds to their legs.
Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez reported that the injured officer, with four years of service, promptly applied a tourniquet to himself following the shooting, despite being wounded. Unfortunately, the suspect involved in the shootout did not survive.
Chief Lopez highlighted that the mall where the shooting occurred had previously been the site of a multi-agency shooter drill, providing valuable training to law enforcement officers. He emphasized the importance of such training, crediting it with saving the injured officer's life in this critical situation.
