83-year-old cinematographer Gangu Ramsay passes away from a protracted illness



Cinematographer Gangu Ramsay, a prominent figure among the renowned Ramsay brothers, has passed away at the age of 83 after battling a prolonged illness.

In a statement released by the family, it was conveyed that Gangu Ramsay had been facing health issues for the past month. He breathed his last early in the morning at 8 am, having been admitted to Kokilaben Hospital.

The funeral ceremony for Gangu Ramsay was held at the Oshiwara Crematorium at 2 pm on April 7, as per the family's announcement.

Gangu Ramsay was a significant figure among the Ramsay brothers, a group renowned for their classic horror films such as 'Purani Haveli' and 'Tehkhana.'

Having contributed creatively to around 50 films under the Ramsay Brothers banner, Gangu Ramsay played a vital role in crafting cult classics like 'Veerana,' 'Purana Mandir,' and 'Bandh Darwaza.'

The Ramsay Brothers were celebrated for their distinctive style in creating B-grade horror films during the 1970s and 80s, featuring elements like zombies, werewolves, and vampires, often interwoven with erotica.

Gangu Ramsay is survived by his daughter Geeta and son Chander Ramsay.
