Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar reiterated his aspiration to become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, underscoring that if his party secures the crucial 145 seats in the state Assembly, he would eagerly vie for the position.
Expressing his ambition in an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Ajit Pawar emphasized his desire to serve Maharashtra as its Chief Minister, contingent upon the support of the people and the attainment of the requisite number of seats by the NCP.
This declaration echoes his previous statements regarding his aspiration for the top post in Maharashtra. Last year, Ajit Pawar articulated his vision to lead the state during an event, outlining his plans for the welfare of the people.
Addressing questions about his reconciliation with Sharad Pawar following the Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar emphasized his willingness to welcome all NCP leaders back into the fold, provided they align with the party's established principles and directives.
While acknowledging the split within the NCP resulting from his defection to the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government last July, Ajit Pawar maintained that he holds no objections to Sharad Pawar or any other NCP leader rejoining his faction. However, he underscored the condition that they must adhere to the party's established course of action.
The rift within the NCP following Ajit Pawar's departure led to a division in the party, ultimately resulting in the Election Commission recognizing Ajit Pawar's faction as the official NCP, granting it the party's name and symbol, the 'clock.'
