In response to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, Air India has announced the suspension of all flights to and from Tel Aviv until April 30, 2024. This decision comes as a precautionary measure amid the unfolding situation in the Middle East. Passengers with confirmed bookings during this period will be provided with flexibility regarding rescheduling and cancellation charges. Safety remains Air India's utmost priority, and the airline is closely monitoring developments to ensure the well-being of its customers and crew.
Earlier, on March 3, Air India had resumed flights to Tel Aviv after a hiatus of five months following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. However, in light of current circumstances, all direct flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv have been suspended temporarily.
Several other international airlines have also taken similar actions. Lufthansa suspended flights to Amman, Beirut, Erbil, and Tel Aviv, while UAE-based Etihad Airways canceled services to Tel Aviv and Amman. Emirates Airlines rerouted some flights due to temporary airspace closures in the region from April 13 to April 15.
