An Indian-origin man who was wanted for assault was killed by US authorities

A 42-year-old Indian-origin man named Sachin Sahoo was fatally shot by San Antonio police after he allegedly struck two officers with his vehicle while being apprehended for an aggravated assault case. The incident occurred on April 21.

Sahoo, originally from Uttar Pradesh, reportedly hit two officers with his vehicle while they were attempting to apprehend him in connection with an aggravated assault case. This occurred after officers responded to a report of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in Cheviot Heights in San Antonio. A 51-year-old female victim was found at the scene, having been intentionally struck by a vehicle. The woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

After Sahoo fled the location, a felony arrest warrant was issued for him. Later, when Sahoo returned to the area, officers attempted to contact him, leading to the confrontation where he struck two officers with his vehicle. One officer fired his weapon, fatally striking Sahoo.

One of the injured officers was taken to a local hospital for treatment, while the other was treated at the scene. No other individuals were harmed during the incident.

According to police officials, Sahoo had allegedly run over the woman, who was his roommate. The woman underwent several surgeries and remained in critical condition.

Sahoo's ex-wife, Leah Goldstein, mentioned that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
