An Indian student, 24, was shot and killed in a car in Canada



The tragic incident involving the shooting death of 24-year-old Chirag Antil, a student from Haryana, in Canada's Vancouver has deeply saddened many. The Vancouver Police discovered Chirag Antil's body inside an Audi car after residents reported hearing gunshots on April 12. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Chirag Antil traveled to Vancouver from Sonipat in Haryana on a study visa in 2022 to pursue an MBA. He had successfully completed his degree and was employed at the time of his untimely demise.

His family, devastated by the loss, has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for justice and assistance in bringing Chirag's body back to India for the final rites. Chirag's brother, Ronit, shared that they had spoken to him earlier on the day of the incident, and he seemed happy before the tragic events unfolded.

While the family awaits answers and seeks justice, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver has expressed profound sorrow over Chirag Antil's death. They have reached out to the relevant Canadian authorities to gather more information about the incident.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals, especially those studying or residing abroad. The family's plea for justice and assistance in repatriating Chirag's remains reflects their deep pain and desire for closure during this difficult time.
