Arvind Kejriwal declined to meet his wife face-to-face; the AAP describes this as inhumane

AAP leader Sanjay Singh condemned the treatment of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at Tihar Jail, alleging that he has been denied an in-person meeting with his wife, Sunita, and can only communicate with her through a window. Singh characterized this restriction as "inhumane" and questioned why such treatment was being inflicted on a three-time Chief Minister.

During a press conference in Delhi, Singh highlighted that even convicted criminals are permitted meetings within their barracks, yet Kejriwal is only allowed to see his wife through a window with glass separating them. Singh asserted that this treatment aims to "humiliate and break the morale" of Kejriwal, accusing the Central government and Prime Minister of orchestrating his alleged torture and deprivation of basic rights.

Singh further claimed that a proposed meeting between Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was abruptly canceled by Tihar Jail authorities, with the two leaders allegedly being instructed to meet through a window as well.

Singh contrasted Kejriwal's treatment with privileges granted to other high-profile inmates in Tihar Jail, citing examples such as internet access and office facilities provided to Subrata Roy of Sahara India Pariwar and regular meetings allowed for the Chandra Brothers. Singh questioned the motive behind such disparate treatment and accused authorities of being afraid of Kejriwal.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case related to the now-defunct liquor policy case. Singh's comments come in the wake of Kejriwal's petition to the Supreme Court challenging his arrest, alleging it was "motivated" and based on contradictory statements from co-accused turned approvers. The petition seeks Kejriwal's release and declaration of his arrest as illegal.
