At Heathrow Airport in the UK, two planes clip their wings

An empty Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787-9 aircraft collided with a stationary British Airways airliner at London's Heathrow Airport on Saturday while being towed from a stand, according to the airline.

Heathrow Airport, the busiest airport in Britain, stated that no injuries to passengers were reported and it anticipated no ongoing impact on airport operations.

British Airways issued a statement confirming the incident and stated that their aircraft was being assessed by engineering teams, with an alternative aircraft provided to minimize disruption for customers.

Virgin Atlantic reported that the collision occurred at Terminal 3 as their empty Boeing 787-9 had just completed a flight and was being towed to another part of the airfield. A spokesperson mentioned that a thorough investigation was underway, with engineering teams conducting maintenance checks on the aircraft, which has been temporarily taken out of service.

Despite the incident, Virgin Atlantic assured that there would be no disruption to its flying schedule for the day.

Heathrow Airport stated it was collaborating with emergency services and both airlines were involved in responding to the incident.
