"BJP never addressed the Katchatheevu issue, despite repeated raised by DMK": Kanimozhi | Exclusive

DMK MP Kanimozhi responded to the recent controversy surrounding the Katchatheevu island issue, accusing the BJP of politicizing a longstanding matter. In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Kanimozhi criticized the BJP for not addressing the issue despite repeated attempts by her party over the last decade.

She asserted that the BJP-led government's handling of foreign relations has strained ties with neighboring countries, pointing to ongoing tensions with China and other border disputes.

Kanimozhi suggested that the BJP's focus on the Katchatheevu issue is merely an election tactic to divert attention from more pressing matters, such as disputes with China.

Regarding corruption allegations against her party, Kanimozhi criticized Prime Minister Modi for introducing electoral bonds, which she claims legalize corruption. She denied accusations of the DMK being "anti-Hindu," emphasizing the party's inclusive stance and support for reservations, particularly benefiting marginalized Hindu communities.

Responding to accusations of "dynasty politics," Kanimozhi highlighted the presence of political dynasties in various parties, including the BJP, and emphasized the importance of public support regardless of family background.

On the issue of drug trafficking, Kanimozhi shifted responsibility to the NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) and highlighted the DMK's swift action in expelling members implicated in such cases.

She expressed confidence in the DMK's prospects in the upcoming elections, citing positive responses to the party's manifesto promises and widespread dissatisfaction with the central government's handling of flood relief and welfare schemes in Tamil Nadu.
