Congress calls PM Modi's comment about the India-China border dispute cowardly worst

The Congress launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his comments on the India-China border dispute in an interview with Newsweek magazine. Accusing him of displaying cowardice and weakness, the party criticized Modi's response as feeble and ineffective.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh lambasted PM Modi, stating that his remarks reflected his cowardly demeanor. He expressed disappointment at Modi's failure to address China's repeated incursions into Indian territory forcefully. Ramesh emphasized that instead of conveying a strong message to China, Modi's lackluster response is likely to embolden further Chinese aggression.

Ramesh condemned Modi's remarks as not only disgraceful but also disrespectful to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending the India-China border. He demanded an apology from the Prime Minister to the nation for misleading the public regarding the border situation, referring to Modi's statement in June 2020 denying any intrusion into Indian territory.

During the Newsweek interview, PM Modi advocated for stable relations with China and emphasized the need for urgent resolution of the border dispute. However, Ramesh criticized Modi for failing to address China's transgressions assertively.

The ongoing border dispute between India and China, particularly in eastern Ladakh, has persisted for nearly four years, with tensions escalating following the clashes in the Galwan Valley in June 2020. Despite diplomatic and military talks, a resolution to the standoff remains elusive, with both sides agreeing to maintain peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control.
