Delhi Congress leader: Arvinder Lovely is raising questions because of some pressure

Deepak Babaria, the Congress General Secretary overseeing Delhi affairs, responded to Arvinder Singh Lovely's resignation by suggesting that Lovely's actions were influenced by external pressures. Babaria's remarks come in the wake of Lovely's resignation from his position as Delhi Congress chief, wherein Lovely accused Babaria of interfering in his leadership and pressuring him to oust dissenting leaders.

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Babaria acknowledged the accusations leveled against him by Lovely, indicating that Lovely's recent actions were likely prompted by external pressures. However, Babaria refrained from specifying the nature of these pressures, leaving room for speculation regarding the underlying factors driving Lovely's decision-making process.

Babaria further disclosed his intention to discuss the matter with Congress Chief Malikarjun Kharge, hinting at potential changes in the leadership structure of the Delhi unit shortly. This statement implies the likelihood of impending adjustments within the Delhi Congress leadership hierarchy in response to the recent developments.

Lovely's resignation letter, meanwhile, outlined several grievances, including Babaria's alleged unilateral vetoing of unanimous decisions made by senior Delhi unit leaders. Additionally, Lovely criticized the Congress Party's alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a decision that was reportedly opposed by the Delhi Congress unit but approved by the party's high command.

Expressing a sense of disillusionment and ineffectiveness in his role as Delhi Congress chief, Lovely cited his inability to protect the interests of party workers as a key factor driving his decision to step down. He also voiced his discontent with Congress candidate Kanhaiya Kumar's praise of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently embroiled in a corruption case.

With the crucial polls to elect seven MPs from Delhi scheduled for May 25 during the sixth phase of voting, the resignation of Arvinder Singh Lovely and the ensuing leadership reshuffle within the Delhi Congress unit underscores the internal challenges and strategic dynamics at play within the party ahead of the electoral showdown.
