Exclusive: Amit Shah on why the BJD of Naveen Patnaik was not partnered with the BJP in Odisha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah explained the BJP's decision not to form an alliance with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha for the Lok Sabha elections. Shah emphasized that the BJP chose to contest separately to uphold the interests of the Odia language, culture, and the pride of Odisha.

Speaking in an interview with India Today TV, Amit Shah highlighted the strong belief of BJP workers that fighting independently would better serve the cause of Odia's identity. He emphasized the party's commitment to the state's development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The alliance talks between the BJD and BJP fell through, leading both parties to contest the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections independently. Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal emphasized that the saffron party did not see eye to eye with the BJD government on various issues concerning the welfare of the Odia people, including matters related to Odia's pride and interests.
