Fighting in Gaza continues while Israeli forces raid a refugee camp in the West Bank

Israeli forces engaged in clashes with Palestinian militants in the West Bank for the second consecutive day, marking a continuation of hostilities in the region. The clashes occurred in the Nur Shams area near Tulkarm, where Israeli forces initiated a raid on Friday. This raid resulted in the death of several militants, as well as the arrest of others, while four Israeli soldiers were injured in the exchange of fire. The Tulkarm Brigades, consisting of militants from various Palestinian factions, reported ongoing confrontations with Israeli forces, indicating a sustained and intense conflict in the region.

Simultaneously, Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple areas in Gaza, including Rafah, Al-Nuseirat, and Al-Jabalia, resulting in casualties and the destruction of residential buildings. Despite the withdrawal of the majority of Israeli combat forces from southern Gaza earlier, the airstrikes indicate that the conflict persists, with Israeli forces conducting raids in central Gaza.

Amidst these developments, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas criticized the United States for obstructing UN recognition of a Palestinian state by vetoing a Security Council resolution. This condemnation underscores the frustration and dissatisfaction among Palestinian leaders regarding the international response to their quest for statehood.

These events unfold against a backdrop of ongoing violence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. This violence includes army raids targeting militant groups, incidents of settler violence against Palestinian communities, and sporadic attacks by Palestinians on Israeli civilians. The situation remains volatile, with tensions escalating and the prospects for peace remaining elusive.
