Five people died trying to save a cat from an abandoned well in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra



Five individuals tragically lost their lives while attempting to rescue a cat from an unused well located in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar. The incident unfolded late on Tuesday, as reported by news agency ANI. Remarkably, the abandoned well had been repurposed as a biogas pit.

According to a senior police official, the five individuals bravely leaped into the well consecutively in a bid to save the feline. Fortunately, one individual, who had descended into the well with a rope secured around his waist, was successfully rescued by a police team and subsequently transported to a hospital for medical attention.

Dhananjay Jadhav, a senior police officer, provided insight into the tragic event, stating, "A rescue team managed to recover the lifeless bodies of five out of the six individuals who had consecutively jumped into the disused well." He further elaborated, "The well had previously been utilized for storing animal waste."

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
