Foreign cash concealed in a mixer-grinder discovered in a train, two Bangladeshis detained

The Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted two Bangladeshi passengers aboard the Kolkata-Dhaka Maitri Express, seizing foreign currency valued at more than Rs 81 lakh. Acting on intelligence, BSF personnel conducted a search at Gede railway station, approximately 115 km from Kolkata, where they apprehended the individuals attempting to smuggle currency of various countries concealed inside a mixer-grinder from India to Bangladesh.

The detained Bangladeshis were found in possession of US Dollar 93,000, Euro 1,890, Australian Dollar 700, New Zealand Dollar 200, UAE Dirham 2,500, Saudi Riyal 7,900, and Bangladeshi Taka 52,112, as disclosed by the BSF.

Identified as Shankar Kumar Dutta from Manikganj and Walid Mehdi Rashal from Chandpur, the individuals had entered India through the Gede land port on April 21. Upon reaching the Mukundapur area in Kolkata, they received the foreign currency from an individual named Subal Chandra Shil for smuggling purposes. However, their attempt was thwarted when they were apprehended on the train during their return journey to Bangladesh on Wednesday.
