In Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, a harrowing incident unfolded as a 23-year-old woman endured a month-long ordeal at the hands of her neighbor. The accused, identified as Ayan Pathan, subjected the woman to brutal torture, leading to her hospitalization with severe injuries.
According to the victim's account, the violence escalated on Tuesday when Pathan assaulted her with a plastic pipe and belt, while also inflicting injuries by throwing chili powder into her eyes and mouth, eventually sealing her lips with adhesive.
The woman revealed in her complaint that she had initially formed a friendship with Pathan, who lived nearby, eventually leading to a romantic involvement. Despite warnings from her mother to distance herself from Pathan, the woman chose to reside with him in Guna after briefly relocating to Shivpuri.
However, the relationship soon turned abusive, with Pathan demanding the transfer of the woman's property to his name. When she refused, the abuse intensified, particularly during the holy month of Ramzan, allegedly with the involvement of Pathan's relatives.
The culmination of the violence occurred on Tuesday when Pathan's assault reached a horrifying crescendo, leaving the woman with severe injuries and necessitating her hospitalization.
Upon receiving the woman's complaint, the police swiftly apprehended Pathan, recovering incriminating evidence including Fevi Kwik, a belt, and a plastic pipe from the room where the woman was held captive.
Furthermore, illicit liquor was discovered at Pathan's residence, adding another dimension to the case. Police investigations revealed that Pathan had coerced the woman into marriage and sought ownership of her property, which was registered under her mother's name.
Consequently, Pathan faces charges under various sections, including rape, obscene language, and voluntarily causing pain, alongside violations of the Excise Act. The police are prepared to pursue further charges pending the outcome of their investigation into this distressing incident.
