In Bihar's Darbhanga, a wedding tent catches fire, killing six people, including three children

At least six individuals, among them three children, tragically lost their lives in a devastating fire that erupted within a wedding tent situated in Bihar's Darbhanga, as reported by authorities on Friday. Additionally, three cows succumbed to the flames, exacerbating the sorrowful toll of the incident.

The calamitous event unfolded around 11:15 pm on Thursday within Alinagar, nestled in the Bahera vicinity of the city, recounted witnesses. The inferno was ignited amidst the jubilant bursting of firecrackers, noted news agency PTI, citing eyewitness testimonies.

Darbhanga's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jagunath Reddy elaborated on the frantic efforts to quell the blaze, detailing the swift dispatch of multiple fire tenders upon receiving the distress signal. "The conflagration was eventually subdued after a considerable duration. The deceased has been conveyed for post-mortem examinations," Reddy informed PTI.

Authorities harbor suspicions that certain combustible materials housed within the tent may have contributed to the rapid propagation of the fire.

The victims, identified as Sunil Paswan (26), Lila Devi (23), Kanchan Devi (26), Siddhanth Kumar (4), Shashank Kumar (3), and Sakshi Kumari (5), succumbed to the unforgiving flames.

In response to the tragedy, Darbhanga's District Magistrate (DM) initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the incident. "The district administration is extending comprehensive support to the bereaved families per disaster management protocols," assured Darbhanga's DM Rajeev Roshan, speaking to PTI.
