Iran envoy: Indians on seized ship not imprisoned, will return when weather improves

Iran's Ambassador to India, Iraj Elahi, provided reassurance regarding the safety of the 17 Indian nationals aboard the Israeli-linked container ship recently seized by the Iranian military. According to Elahi, the crew members are unharmed, and they are not being detained. They are free to leave the ship at their discretion.

However, due to unfavorable weather conditions in the Persian Gulf, the process of repatriating the Indian nationals has been temporarily delayed. Ambassador Elahi assured that once the weather improves and it becomes safe to do so, arrangements will be made for the Indians to return home. Iranian officials have communicated this information to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, indicating their commitment to ensuring the safe return of the Indian crew members.
