Just a number, your age: A 'lively' Indian woman of 99 years old becomes a citizen of the US

Daibai, a 99-year-old woman from India, has embarked on a new journey in her life by officially becoming a US citizen. She took the oath of allegiance as part of her citizenship formalities at the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office in Orlando.

The USCIS shared a heartwarming picture of Daibai seated in a wheelchair, proudly holding her citizenship certificate alongside her daughter and the officer who administered the oath. In their social media post, the agency hailed Daibai as a "lively" individual and emphasized that age is merely a number.

"They say age is just a number. That seems true for this lively 99-year-old who became a #NewUSCitizen in our Orlando office. Daibai is from India and was excited to take the oath of allegiance. She's pictured with her daughter and our officer who swore her in. Congrats Daibai!" USCIS shared on X on Friday.

The USCIS plays a crucial role in processing various immigration-related matters, including immigrant visa petitions, naturalization applications, asylum applications, and adjustments of status (green cards). Additionally, the agency administers immigration services and benefits, issues employment authorization documents (EAD), and adjudicates petitions for non-immigrant temporary workers such as H-1B visas.

Through its online platform, applicants, petitioners, and authorized representatives can submit case inquiries and service requests, which are then reviewed by the relevant USCIS center or office.
