Kangana Ranaut's "first PM" comment draws criticism from Netaji's family

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's family has criticized actor and BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut for her statement referring to Netaji as the first Prime Minister of India. Netaji's grand-nephew Chandra Kumar Bose took to social media platform X to express his disapproval, emphasizing the importance of preserving historical accuracy and condemning any attempts to distort history for political gain.

In his post on X, Chandra Kumar Bose stated, "No one should distort history for their political ambition." He highlighted Netaji's multifaceted identity as a political thinker, soldier, statesman, and visionary, but clarified that Netaji did not serve as the first Prime Minister of India. He emphasized Netaji's role in uniting all communities in the fight for India's freedom and urged respect for his inclusive ideology.

Chandra Kumar Bose's remarks come after Kangana Ranaut, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections as a BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi constituency, faced criticism for her assertion about Netaji. Kangana Ranaut defended her statement, urging critics to read historical accounts that support her assertion about Netaji's role.

However, some opposition leaders, including BRS leader KT Rama Rao, mocked Kangana Ranaut's statement on X without directly naming her. Rao highlighted the discrepancy between Kangana's assertion and historical facts, questioning the source of such misinformation.

Overall, the controversy underscores the importance of accuracy and integrity in historical narratives, especially in the context of political discourse.
