Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray voiced his admiration for the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, advocating for his continued leadership beyond the upcoming elections. Thackeray emphasized the significant strides taken by the Modi administration in advancing India's progress, citing examples such as the revocation of Article 370, the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and the implementation of the NRC.
Expressing his previous opposition to the Modi government during its initial tenure, Thackeray acknowledged a shift in his perspective as the administration embarked on new initiatives. He particularly lauded the government's resolve in resolving longstanding issues like the Ram Mandir construction, asserting that without PM Modi's leadership, the project would have remained unresolved.
Thackeray underscored PM Modi's equitable treatment of all states, dispelling notions of bias or discrimination. He pledged support from his party, urging members to back Mahayuti candidates aligned with the BJP-led alliance.
While Thackeray hinted at collaborating with the Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), he stopped short of confirming his participation in rallies or addressing events under this coalition.
Additionally, Thackeray outlined his agenda to advocate for the Marathi language's classical status and the restoration of forts in Maharashtra, signaling his intent to engage with the Modi-led government on these matters.
In contrast, Thackeray criticized the Shiv Sena faction led by his cousin Uddhav Thackeray for casting doubt on his unwavering support for the NDA, dismissing their skepticism as biased.
As Maharashtra gears up for Lok Sabha elections across five phases from April 19 to May 20, Thackeray's endorsement of PM Modi and the NDA underscores the shifting political dynamics within the state.
