"Open to suggestions..." India at the peace summit in Ukraine in Switzerland

India has expressed openness to all ideas aimed at facilitating the early restoration of peace in Ukraine, following the announcement of a high-level summit by the Swiss government. External affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated India's consistent stance of advocating for a negotiated settlement to the Russia-Ukraine conflict through diplomacy and dialogue.

Jaiswal highlighted India's participation in various mechanisms, including the Copenhagen format, as part of Ukraine's peace efforts. He emphasized India's willingness to consider all proposals conducive to achieving peace.

The international summit, scheduled for June 15-16 at the Burgenstock resort near Luzern, aims to contribute to peace efforts in Ukraine after more than two years of conflict. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed a 10-point peace plan, which includes measures such as holding accountable those responsible for war crimes, withdrawing Russian troops from Ukraine, and ensuring energy security, food security, and nuclear safety.

India has consistently advocated for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the Ukraine conflict. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with President Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima last year, affirming India's commitment to assisting in finding a resolution.

Responding to queries about reported staff reductions at the Canadian High Commission in Delhi, Jaiswal referred to it as an administrative matter and advised contacting the Canadian authorities for further details. He noted that visa processing by the Canadian High Commission in Delhi remains unaffected.
