'Operation Lotus' in Karnataka, according to Siddaramaiah: MLAs offered Rs 50 crore

In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleged that the BJP is attempting to execute 'Operation Lotus' in the state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He claimed that the BJP offered Rs 50 crore to MLAs of the ruling Congress to lure them away.

Responding to allegations from the BJP that his government would collapse if the Congress lost the Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah revealed ongoing attempts by the BJP to destabilize his government. He stated that despite these efforts, the BJP's attempts to bribe MLAs with Rs 50 crore had failed.

When questioned about the possibility of his government falling after the elections, Siddaramaiah firmly dismissed the notion, asserting that none of his MLAs would defect from the party.

He also expressed confidence that the Congress government under his leadership would complete its full five-year term.

In response to these allegations, BJP MP S Prakash joined the conversation and refuted Siddaramaiah's claims, labeling them as "unfortunate." He criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly resorting to such accusations to gain sympathy from a specific section of society.

Prakash further accused Siddaramaiah of neglecting key issues and the achievements of his government in Karnataka, instead focusing on making baseless allegations.

He concluded by suggesting that Siddaramaiah's focus should be on securing victories in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections rather than safeguarding his position after the polls.
