Roberto Cavalli, an Italian fashion designer, passes away at 83



Roberto Cavalli, the iconic Italian fashion designer celebrated for his vibrant animal-print designs adored by celebrities, has passed away at the age of 83. Cavalli, who established his eponymous label in the early 1970s, had been battling illness for some time.

Survived by his partner, Sandra Bergman Nilsson, and his six children, Cavalli leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire the fashion world. Sergio Azzolari, the CEO of Roberto Cavalli, expressed condolences on behalf of the company, highlighting Cavalli's enduring influence.

The renowned designer breathed his last at his residence in Florence on Friday, as reported by the Italian news agency ANSA. Known for his flamboyant style and extravagant designs, Cavalli's creations often featured bold colors, intricate patterns, and revealing silhouettes, reflecting his dynamic personality and artistic flair.

In addition to his contributions to the fashion industry, Cavalli ventured into real estate and established the popular "Just Cavalli Cafe," a nightclub located in central Milan, where he frequently socialized.

Giorgio Armani, another stalwart of the fashion world, paid tribute to Cavalli, acknowledging their differing approaches to fashion while recognizing Cavalli's unique artistic vision and creative genius.

Throughout his career, Cavalli created iconic pieces worn by celebrities like Cindy Crawford, whose appearance in a Cavalli-designed tiger-print dress on Rome's Spanish Steps became emblematic of his bold and seductive style.

Fausto Puglisi, creative director at Roberto Cavalli, expressed his admiration and gratitude for Cavalli's enduring legacy, affirming that his influence will continue to inspire generations of designers.

Following Cavalli's passing, his funeral is scheduled to take place in Florence on Monday, according to reports from Italian media outlets. The Florence-based fashion house remains under the ownership of Auriel Investment SA, led by Dubai-based businessman Hussain Sajwani, who acquired the company in 2019, ensuring Cavalli's legacy endures.
