Salwan Momika, a Quran burner, is still alive and connects death rumors to Islam

Salwan Momika, known for his provocative acts against Islam, including burning the Quran, recently confirmed that he is alive after widespread rumors of his death circulated. Monika, who had traveled to Norway after Sweden rejected his asylum bid, alleged that his arrest upon arrival in Norway was part of an effort to suppress criticism of Islam.

Disputing reports of his demise, Momika took to social media to denounce Norway's actions, accusing the country of infringing on freedom of speech and attempting to intimidate those who question or criticize Islam. He claimed that Norwegian authorities detained him upon arrival and confiscated his phones, citing him as a threat to national security.

Monika, a former Iraqi militia leader turned atheist and liberal atheist critic, has been a vocal opponent of Islam, as evidenced by his public burning of the Quran in front of Stockholm's largest mosque in June 2023. His actions have sparked controversy and drawn criticism from Islamic countries, with Sweden also facing backlash for hosting him due to concerns about security threats.

In his latest posts, Momika likened Norway's actions to those of oppressive regimes, condemning what he perceives as a crackdown on freedom of expression. He vowed to continue speaking out against Islam, despite facing opposition and persecution.

Momika's past involvement as the leader of a Christian militia within the Imam Ali Brigades, an organization accused of war crimes, adds complexity to his controversial persona. He fled Iraq in 2018 following a power struggle within the militia ranks, highlighting his turbulent history in conflict-ridden regions.
