"Sports fanatic" MK Stalin includes a pledge for a new cricket stadium in the DMK manifesto

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, also the DMK supremo, has announced a new promise in his party's election manifesto: the establishment of a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Coimbatore. Expressing his enthusiasm for sports and cricket, Stalin shared this pledge on social media in response to a post by state Minister of Industries TRB Rajaa.

Stalin emphasized the importance of fostering sports talent and enhancing sports infrastructure in Tamil Nadu, stating that the proposed stadium in Coimbatore aims to be the state's second international-standard cricket venue after Chennai's iconic MAC stadium. He highlighted the commitment of his government and Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin to this endeavor.

Coimbatore, known for its enthusiasm for various sports including cricket, is seen as an ideal location for the new stadium. Minister TRB Rajaa pointed out the city's vibrant sports culture and the presence of cricket enthusiasts, as well as its contribution to nurturing national cricket stars from Western Tamil Nadu.

Rajaa envisioned the new stadium not only as a cricketing venue but also as a symbol of sustainable development, aiming to set global standards for environmentally friendly infrastructure.

The DMK, in alliance with the Congress and other opposition parties in the INDIA bloc, is gearing up for the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu on April 19, with results expected on June 4. The promise of a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Coimbatore adds to the party's election agenda, reflecting its commitment to sports development and infrastructure enhancement in the state.
