'Stable ties' serve common interests, China said in response to the PM's remarks about the border dispute



China has responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent remarks regarding the normalization of strained relations between India and China due to border disputes. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning acknowledged Modi's statements, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stable and positive relations between the two nations. Mao reiterated China's belief that strong and stable ties between India and China serve the common interests of both countries and contribute to regional and global peace and development.

In an interview with Newsweek magazine, PM Modi underscored the significance of India's relationship with China and emphasized the urgent need to address the ongoing situation at the borders. He expressed hope for the restoration and maintenance of peace and tranquility through constructive engagement at diplomatic and military levels.

While acknowledging the complexities surrounding the boundary issue, Mao emphasized that it should be appropriately managed within the broader context of bilateral relations. She highlighted the ongoing communication between New Delhi and Beijing through diplomatic and military channels.

Mao expressed hope that India would collaborate with China to address differences, enhance mutual trust, and promote dialogue and cooperation, ultimately steering bilateral relations towards stability and prosperity.
