'The Kerala Story' transmission is opposed by Pinarayi Vijayan

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan strongly objected to the decision of Doordarshan to telecast the film 'The Kerala Story', criticizing it as a tool for spreading hatred against Kerala. He emphasized that a public sector organization like Doordarshan should not be influenced by the communal agenda of the Sangh Parivar and urged for the immediate withdrawal of the decision to screen the film.

Vijayan denounced the film's content as based on lies and aimed at fostering religious rivalry, which contradicts Kerala's ethos of communal harmony. He urged the Centre not to use the official news broadcasting organization to defame Kerala during the elections.

The Chief Minister expressed concern that airing such a film would insult the entire state and provoke communal polarization. He asserted that secular Kerala would stand united against attempts to sow division and communalism.

In addition to Vijayan's statement, the CPI(M) state secretariat demanded that Doordarshan withdraw its decision to screen the film, labeling it as a challenge against Kerala's unity. The party highlighted that the censor board had recommended removing ten scenes from the film, which portrayed communist parties and leaders inaccurately and propagated false narratives about Kerala being a haven for terrorists.
