The PM made fun of Rahul Gandhi by saying that, like Amethi, he would flee Wayanad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Maharashtra's Nanded, took a dig at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that Gandhi was encountering difficulties garnering support in Kerala's Wayanad constituency and would likely withdraw from the seat after the polling on April 26.

Referring to Gandhi as "shehzada" (prince), PM Modi remarked that the Congress was eagerly awaiting the polling day in Wayanad. He humorously implied that Gandhi would "run away" from Wayanad, drawing a parallel with his departure from Amethi in 2019.

"Congress ke shehzade unhe bhi Wayanad mein sankat dikh raha hai. Shehzade aur unki toli April 26 ko Wayanad mein voting ka intezaar kar rahe hain... Jaise Amethi se bhagna pada, aap maan ke chaliye wo Wayanad bhi chodenge," he quipped.

Gandhi, who has been nominated by the Congress from Wayanad for a second term, previously contested from both Wayanad and Amethi in 2019. Despite securing victory in Wayanad, he faced defeat in Amethi against Union Minister Smriti Irani.

PM Modi also questioned the leadership within the INDIA bloc parties, highlighting their inability to identify a unified leader post-election.

Furthermore, he accused the Congress of obstructing Maharashtra's development for decades, emphasizing the need for change. PM Modi urged voters to maximize their participation in the electoral process.

The Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra will be conducted in five phases from April 19 to May 20, with results announced on June 4. Nanded will go to the polls in the second phase on April 26.
