Three people are detained in Jammu and Kashmir for giving terrorists information about security forces

Three individuals were apprehended in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, over alleged ties to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as per local police reports on Thursday.

Acting on intelligence inputs, Baramulla Police, along with security forces, conducted the arrests in Old Town Baramulla. During the operation, three grenades were seized from the possession of the detained individuals.

In a social media post, Baramulla Police announced the arrest, stating, "Terror module busted in old town Baramulla - Police arrests 3 terrorist associates of LeT outfit, Grenades recovered."

The arrested individuals, identified as Owais Ahmad Waza, Basit Fayaz Kaloo, and Faheem Ahmad Mir, were allegedly aiding terrorists by providing them with information regarding the movements of security forces. Their purported aim was to disrupt the peace process in Baramulla ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary elections, according to the police.

The involvement of the apprehended individuals was considered a threat to India's sovereignty and integrity, the police stated. Charges under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have been filed against them.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing. This incident follows a similar arrest in November last year when Baramulla Police detained four individuals linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba.
